Filed under: Herbal Breast Actives — Tags: , , , , , , , , — libertees @ 2:11 am February 2, 2012

All women experience an irregular period sometimes during their child bearing years, before menopause. While Western medication has never viewed irregular menstruation as a problem of the women’s reproductive system, traditional Chinese medicine looks at this problem seriously that if untreated it will disharmonize the women’s ecosystem, leading to nervous tension and other health problems, including infertility.

Blood deficiency in dysmenorrhrea can be defined as a vague pain in the lower abdomen during or 1-2 days after menstruation. It may be caused by the liver’s inability in blood formation, and/or the kidney and lung qi’s inability to transport blood to the heart.

1. He shou wu (fleeceflower root)
He shou wu is a liver tonic herb. It promotes liver function in blood formation and increases the kidney qi in assisting the liver in transporting blood to the heart for circulation, thereby reducing the blood stagnation causes of deficiency. It also improves the kidney in urinary secretion, thus decreasing the risk of blood stagnation caused by fluid retention.

2. Shu Di Huang (Chinese foxglove root)
Shu di huang is a blood tonic herb. Besides improving the liver in blood formation, it also increases the liver’s qi by boosting the circulatory system in transporting oxygen and nutrients to the body’s cells thus reducing the risks of symptoms of dizziness, pallid complexion, palpitations, and scanty menstruation.

3. E Jiao (Donkey-Hide Glue)
E jiao is an important herb for improving the liver in blood formation and liver qi in regulating the blood circulation in the body thereby reducing the symptoms of dizziness, shallow complexion, and palpitations caused by blood deficiency.

4. Dang gui (Chinese angelica root)
Dang gui is best known for improving the liver’s function in blood formation and regulating the function of the reproductive organs. It also harmonizes the production of hormones during the menstrual cycle, leading to reduced cramps and pain caused by blood deficiency and stagnation.

5. Bai shao (white peony root)
Bai shao plays an important role in nourishing the blood and regulatingmenstrual problems caused by blood deficiency. It also harmonizes the liver and spleen to prevent the rising of blood heat causes of headache and dizziness.

There are many more Chinese herbs that help to treat blood deficiency, make sure to work with your Chinese practitioner to find the underlining causes and to treat them effectively.

Menstruation Disorders – Dysmenorrhea – Symptoms of Kidney and Liver Deficiency in TCM Perspective

Filed under: Herbal Breast Actives — Tags: , , , , , , , , — libertees @ 2:20 pm January 2, 2012

Girls in South East Asia have learnt in their early life from their grandmother’s wisdom that they do not engage in any activity that distorts their regular period. Irregular period should be treated immediately, otherwise it may cause a wide range of diseases such as infertility, according to traditional Chinese medicine.

The liver is an organ of storing blood. The kidney is the organs that regulates the reporductive system and that distributes fluids according to TCM. Deficiency of liver and kidney causes symptoms of dysmenorrhrea including:
1.Lower abdominal pain either proceeding and/or following menstruation.

If liver qi is stagnated, it causes the abdominal muscles to contract, leading to menstrual pains preceding the period. If the kidney is not functioning normally because of a lack of fluid, it causes the rise of liver heat, leading to abnormal cramps and pain. It is said that applying external pressure will ease the pain.

2. Thin and light color menstruation
Thin and light color period discharge is caused by the liver’s inability in blood formation and the kidney’s function in fluid regulation.

3. Fatigue, dizziness
It is caused by the spleen’s inability in energy (nutrients and oxygen) transportation, as a result of a stagnation of liver blood formation.

4. Fever
In some cases, liver deficiency may cause the inability of the immune system in fighting against the invasion of bacteria and virus, leading to infection and inflammation. Sometimes it generates liver heat, leading to increasing the body temperature.

5. Scanty urination
Scanty urination may be caused by the kidney’s abnormal function in urinary secretion as a result of the inability of the kidney to distribute fluids throughout the body.

6. Lower back pain.
Lower back pain is a result of qi and blood stagnation in the abdominal region.

Menstruation Disorders – Dysmenorrhea – Symptoms of Imbalance of Liver in TCM Perspective

Filed under: Herbal Breast Actives — Tags: , , , , , , , — libertees @ 2:28 am December 18, 2011

All women experience menstrual disorder sometimes during their child bearing years before menopause. While Western medication has never viewed that menstruation disorder is a problem of women reproductive system, traditional Chinese medicine looks at this problem seriously, if untreated, it will disharmonize the women’s ecosystem, leading to nervous tension and other health problems, including infertility.

Liver is important for blood formation and in regulating the spleen in food absorption and transforming them to energy to support our body daily activity. Imbalance of liver can be caused by stress, anger, resentment and repressed frustrations, leading to the following symptoms in dysmenorrhrea.

1. Pain in the lower abdomen preceding or during menstruation
In the western medicine point of view, pain in lower abdomen preceding or during menstruation may be caused by the inability of liver in essential fatty metabolism, leading to over production of certain hormones in the prostaglandins family that cause contraction of uterus muscles. In TCM point of view, liver is a main organ in blood storing and formation, imbalance of liver causes qi stagnation, leading to blood stagnation in some some organs, thus causing pain in the lower abdomen before and during menstruation as qi tries to push the stagnated blood through vagina.

2. Difficult menstruation
Difficult menstruation is common symptoms for women with dysmenorrhrea because of imbalance liver. As qi is stagnated, it does not have enough strength to regulate the blood flow, making menstruation difficulty.

3. Scanty menstrual discharge
In some case, qi may be able to regulate the blood flow in the reproductive organs, but blood formation of liver is damaged, it leaves only a small amount blood for menstruation, causing scanty menstrual discharge.

4. Period with dark purple color containing blood clots
It is a result of blood stagnation in the reproductive organ and excessive liver heat, (caused by extreme yin or yang) leading to dark purple color and clots.

5. Breast tenderness
Imbalance of liver causes qi stagnation that interferes with kidney function in regulating the flow of fluids in the body, effecting the reproductive organs, leading to breast tenderness.

Menstruation Disorders – Dysmenorrhea – Causes of Blood and Qi Stagnation in TCM Perspective

Filed under: Herbal Breast Actives — Tags: , , , , , , , — libertees @ 2:14 pm December 17, 2011

All women experience irregular period sometimes during their child bearing years, before menopause. While Western medication has never viewed that irregular menstruation is a problem for a women’s reproductive system, traditional Chinese medicine looks at this problem seriously, if untreated, it will dis-harmonize the women’s ecosystem, leading to nervous tension and other health problems, including infertility. Girls in South East Asia have learned in their early life from their grandmother’s wisdom that they do not engage in any activity that distort their regular period.

Liver is important for blood formation and the lung. It helps to regulate the movement of qi in the body. Obstruction of blood in certain organs may also cause qi stagnation, leading to menstrual cramps and pain before, during and after menstruation. Causes of blood and qi stagnation include:

1. Chronic inflammation
The prolonged period of inflammation causes blood static as a result of increasing blood flow to inflammation regions and distorting the immune system in fighting against foreign bacteria and virus function, leading to blood stagnation.

2. Liver function
Liver is vital for blood formation and waste removal. Abnormal function of liver causes old estrogen or other hormones as well as old blood remaining in the body’s organs, leading to blood stagnation thus increasing the risk of menstrual irregularity and dysmenorrhrea.

3. Inability of respiratory function
If the lung is damaged for whatever reasons, it may affect the lung’s ability to move qi in the pathway of the meridian, leading to blood stagnation in the reproductive region.

4. Stress and depression
Stress and depression caused by an unexpected event can affect the liver function in regulating the psychosocial symptoms of the nervous system and physical symptoms of blood formation, leading to liver qi and blood stagnation that contribute to symptoms of dysmenorrhrea.

5. Unhealthy diet
Unhealthy diet high in saturated and trans fat affect the blood and qi movement, because it causes the building up of cholesterol in the blood stream, thereby reducing the lung’s function in regulating qi movement and the heart’s function in blood circulation.

Overcome Infertility – Causes of Irregular Menstruation in TCM Perspective

All women experience irregular period sometimes during their child bearing years, before menopause. While Western medication has never viewed that irregular menstruation is a problem of women reproductive system, traditional Chinese medicine looks at this problem seriously, if untreated, it will disharmonize the women ecosystem, leading to nervous tension and other health problems, including infertility. Girls in South East Asia have learnt in their early women life from grand mother wisdom, that they do not engage in any activity, distorting their regular period.. Irregular period should be treated immediately, otherwise, it may cause wide range of women diseases, such as infertility, according to Traditional Chinese medicine.

Causes of irregular menstruation include

1. Hot and spy foods
Hot and spicy foods may be needed to improve the immune system, increase blood flow to the reproductive organs and warm the uterus for natural conception, but over intake of them may distort the kidney function in nourishing and moistening the body tissue and increase the blood flow, causing over reproduction progesterone and testosterone, resulting in heat accumulated in the body and irregular blood flow.

2. Cool and cold foods
Over eaten some cool and cold foods such as cold drink, icy drink and raw foods over prolong period of time will decrease the yang qi in the body, leading to reducing the qi and energy flow to the reproductive organs. In some sever case, it blocks the flow of energy and increases the risk of accumulation of cold in the body, distorting the the yin phrase of menstrual cycle, causing painful irregular period and increasing the risk of infertility.

3. Occupation
People who work in cold or hot environment may cause the lost of their underlayer of yang or yin weather in the body, because our body need to divert our yang or yin weather to fight the constant cold and hot temperature accordingly. Over a long period of times, if diet can not support the lost of energy and flow in the body, it causes either yang or yin deficiency that distort the normal menstrual cycle, leading to irregular period. In some severe cases, it causes infertility.

4. Rigid exercise
Moderate exercise is alway good for our body, rigid exercise may cause blood moving upward to the organs other than the productive organs, leading to not enough to sustain a menstrual period, thus causing irregular period and infertility in some cases.

5. Raw food diet
Raw food diet is healthier, if compare with the typical American diet. According to traditional Chinese medicine, raw foods are considered yin pathogen, if over intake of them for a prolong period of times will cause yang deficiency, distorting the yang phrase of the normal menstrual cycle, resulting in irregular period and sometimes infertility.

6. Diet against internal weather
Eating slightly opposite to the internal constitution is always recommended. For example, if your internal constitution is yang, then you should eat a slightly more cool foods than people with neutral constitution.

7. Stress
Stress can impair the proper functions of the spleen in food digestion and transporting blood and qi to the reproductive organs, leading to abnormal menstrual period and increasing the risk of infertility.

8. Artificial sweetener and Processed foods
All these foods exhibit the yin and dampness in the body, according to TCM. While deficiency of yang causes the constriction that interferes with spleen function in food digestion and transport nutrients to our body, making our qi flow sluggish and leading to irregular period, weight gain and lack of energy.

Irregular menstruation and Endometriosis – What we know

The endometrial is a special type of tissue that lines the inner walls of the uterus of a woman. The endometrial migrates and sometimes implants in other areas within the pelvis.

In women with endometriosis may have endometrial tissue in the fallopian tubes, ovaries or elsewhere in the pelvis? In these places there should be no endometrial tissue.

During the normal menstrual cycle a woman inside the uterus the endometrial thickens and prepares for the possibility of conception and pregnancy. This occurs under the influence of hormones in the blood stream. If no conception occurs, the hormone levels decrease and the endometrial becomes detached from the wall of the uterus and is expelled through it – what we know as menstruation or our monthly period.

In women with endometriosis the same process occurs but additional endometrial tissue in various sites around the pelvis reacts in the same way to hormonal changes in the bloodstream. This means that the endometrial placed in the wrong place; it takes off and wants to leave the body but is trapped. This can lead to inflammation and pain in the surrounding tissue and in the long run, it can form cysts and scar tissue.

How will I know if I have endometriosis?

Endometriosis can cause severe pain, usually in the pelvic area, and women with this condition usually feel the most pain and discomfort during their menstrual period. This pain can be debilitating and is generally more severe than what other women experience as “period pain.”

Other symptoms of this condition are excessive menstrual bleeding, average periods of bleeding and pain during relation or bowel movements.

Endometriosis may also decrease fertility and is an important factor in women who are having difficulty getting pregnant. In some women, endometriosis may cause few or even no symptoms. Endometriosis is a common disorder and it is estimated that almost 1 in 10 women in their reproductive years suffer from this condition. It is more common in women who have had children.

Other conditions can present the same symptoms as endometriosis, it is important to consult your health care provider about any troublesome menstrual symptoms or anything that makes you suspect this condition. Endometriosis is usually easily diagnosed by an internal pelvic examination.

How can you help natural remedies or alternative medicine?

Bigger Breasts with Natural Breast Enhancement

Since our society places a great deal of emphasis on outward appearances, most women share the frustrations of two critical issues: their weight and breast size. While most adults recognize rationally that we are all different and have different body types, but many women are still uncomfortable with their weight and/or bust size. This has become the norm in our modern world.

Despite the insecurities so many women deal with, there is nothing more beautiful than a confident woman. If you ask most men, they will admit to being naturally attracted to confident women. This is simply a reflection of how a woman carries herself when she is uncomfortable with her body.  Insecure women do not display that air of confidence that attracts potential suitors.

So, how are women successfully combating this problem? Herbal remedies, hormone therapy and surgery are three great options to increase breast size or make them appear fuller.

Breast Size & Weight

It is common for the bust to lose fullness when a woman loses weight due to the amount of fatty tissue in the breast. When a woman gains weight, the opposite will happen, though gaining weight just to increase bust fullness is unhealthy and creates other problems. Plus, gaining weight for fullness doesn’t always work as the woman expected.

Hormone therapy is a more natural form of breast enhancement commonly requested by women today. Hormone levels can impact breast size, shape and fullness tremendously, but it often has unexpected side effects that make it a less viable.

Surgical Enhancements

Surgically enhancing the bust should be considered with great care, since it is considered major surgery. Most major insurance companies will not cover this type of elective surgery so it can be quite expensive. Even more important, there are some potential complications such as infection, rupture and loss of physical sensation. About 16% of women who undergo surgery will suffer complications.

Of those that experience complications, 1% will require additional surgery to fix problems that arose during the initial enhancement.

Natural Enhancements

Obviously, surgery isn’t the answer for everyone. Many women would rather use all natural remedies by taking pills or applying creams. There are some herbs that have proven to be effective for increasing breast size and firmness. When used on a consistent basis, these herbal remedies often produce satisfactory results.

For instance, fenugreek is a herb that contains high concentrations of substances that aid in the development of mammary glands. Fennel can help repair and stimulate the growth of new breast tissue, thanks to higher concentrations of flavonoids. Black cohosh and some other well known herbs will deliver results similar to what is accomplished through hormone replacement therapy.

Herbal remedies are much safer than the other alternatives because they rarely produce negative side effects. They are considered a healthy alternative solution, but you should still check with your doctor before treating yourself with herbs. Always follow the instructions printed on the bottle because it is possible to overdose on herbs when used incorrectly.

Benefits of Natural Enhancements

Surgery is permanent whether the results are what you wanted or not, but herbal remedies are more controllable. For instance, you will have better control over how many cup sizes you increase since you simply stop taking the herbs once you reach a size you’re comfortable with. You can always restart treatment if more fullness or even another cup size is desired later on.

Remember, confidence is sexy! A woman who looks and feels her best will have an advantage over other women. You can really accomplish a full-body transition with the correct herbal remedies, and that goes beyond just larger, fuller breasts. The results will last permanently since you form real tissue that does not go away when herbal supplements are stopped.

Besides enhancing breast size, shape and fullness, herbal remedies provide additional health benefits. This includes better thyroid functioning, hormonal balancing, fewer menstruation related problems, and improved growth of hair and nails. When you compare these benefits to the risks of breast enhancement surgery, it is clear which option is preferable to most women.
