Regardless of your gender or age, to have a flat stomach or even well defined abs would be great.  For most women, it can be said that they want to look good in their clothes and having a flat stomach can be very important.  There are many different roads you can go down in order to achieve this, but you will have to do some sort of workout.  One of the best approaches that you can adopt, would be to choose and use a good ab workout routine.  A routine that will really work your muscles, and give you the desired effect.

There is a right and a wrong way of doing any exercise – you either work your muscles or not!  This a common mistake made by most people when working out.  In order to get the most out of any exercise, you must concentrate on working the right set of muscles.  The same rule should apply to your routine if you want a flat stomach or to develop your abs.

Obviously, you start off at a steady pace and work towards really intensifying your routines.  By staying at the same pace, you will not really see any benefits. For example, if you start off by speed walking, then  you should move on to something more energetic, like jogging after a week or two.

The best exercise to really work your abs is doing the crunches.  Initially, you can start off by doing the simple form of the crunch.  When you feel that your confidently working your upper and lower abdominal muscles, you should then progress to doing some of the more complicated crunch exercises.

A way of finding out if you are doing the exercises correctly, is by placing your hand on your abs as you slowly perform the exercise. You should be able to feel your abs muscles being worked. You should then be able to learn how to target those particular muscles, as your go through your abs workout.

Remembering to avoid these simple mistakes with your own abs workout routine, you will be on the road to working and developing your muscles and achieving what you initially set out to do.

Crunches like most other things, have been developed and improved over the years.  There are far more variations now, and the intensity level has also been increased.  A good example of this is the reverse crunch.  With this routine you lay on your back, then you raise your hips up off the ground bringing your knees in towards the chest.  This is regarded by many, as being one of the better crunch exercises.

The use of the exercise ball is a relatively new introduction, and it is one that has had the biggest positive effect.  The medicine ball can be used in a number of different exercise routines, that will work on the abdominal muscles.  The popularity of the exercise ball is ever increasing.  This is mainly due to its ease of use, and of course because of the results that it brings.

What ever your reasons are for wanting to tone up your body.  Whether it be for a little weight loss, or even to develop those ab muscles.  The crunch exercise routines are the ones that are going to give you the results that you are looking for.

The Benefit Of Women Ab Workout Routines

Although a well toned body is something to be admired, women in general tend to leave that to their male counterparts.  We all have an idea as to how we would like to look, and to some extent how we feel about ourselves.  For some people though, motivation is one of the biggest hurdles to overcome.

Over the last several years, we have constantly been told that we should all get more exercise.  We should all eat a more sensible diet, and that we should all take better care of our bodies.

Being a woman, I realised the importance of taking care of myself, so that I would be able to look after my family.  I don’t mean that I was just being careful about what I ate, but I was getting plenty of exercise as well.

I started to look on the Internet and in other forms of literature, about women ab workout routines or even just exercising to lose some weight.  I eventually found a routine that really worked well for me, I lost some weight and flattened out my tummy.  Now I can say that I am looking and feeling healthier, happier and I have far more energy to devote to my family.

Most women tend to rely on dieting as their only method to lose their excess weight.  However, personally I have found that by combining a sensible diet and exercising regularly, I have achieved the results that I wanted.  I lost the excess weight and I started to get a much flatter stomach.  I really don’t think that I would be in the shape that I am in today, if I had just been concentrating on dieting!

I found that for me, the ideal exercise for your abs has to be one that really works the abdominal muscles.  As a woman, you probably don’t want to have a six pack, but if you do then you should use exercises that work both your upper and lower abdominal muscles.

Something that you can do at home is the ‘Raised Leg Crunch’.  This exercise works your lower abdominal muscles, tightening any flab, and this exercise will work well for most women.  If you work your muscles on a regular basis, there is no reason why you should not start seeing positive results.  Anyone can do this, but you do need to be determined and persistent.  It is often very easy just to give up when you start to feel the aches and pains, but this is only temporary.

The Relevance of Lower Ab Exercises

There are several exercises that will give you an overall workout, and at the same time will tone-up your muscles.  There are however only a few exercises that are specifically designed to work on your lower abs.  It does not matter what sort of an exercise regime you are following, the results are not going to happen over night.

In order to work the right group of muscles, the exercises that you choose must be able to work the appropriate parts of your body.  Regular exercise of the relevant group of muscles over a period of time, will give you the best results.

Ideally to exercise 3 – 4 times a week would be great, but not everyone can fit this into their routine.

When exercising it is not all about how many repetitions you can do, the main focus should be on working the appropriate muscles.  It is also essential to ensure that you are doing these exercises correctly.   If you are performing these exercises incorrectly, you are not going to be getting the desired results.

As with all exercises there should be a short warm up period before you actually start to do your routine.  If you are a new-comer to this form of exercise, you should ease into gently to avoid any aches and pains.  To go into the exercises full blast, could result in a muscle strain, and that could be painful.

There is a lower ab exercise that works the Transverse Abdominus muscles.

Start by kneeling down on the floor, then place the palms of your hands flat out on the floor in front of you.  Then you need to pull your belly button in as far as you can, this is done by contracting your ab muscles.  And at the same remembering to relax the rest of your body.

If you are trying this exercise for the first time, try to hold this position for about 10 seconds.  Between each one of these moves, you should relax your body for a few seconds.  As you get more accustomed to the exercise, you will be able to increase the amount of time that you can hold the position.

For people that are a bit more advanced, you can try to hold the position for longer periods of time.  About 2 minutes is generally a good place to start, then you should be able to feel the muscles contracting.

In order to be sure that you are benefiting from these exercises.  Try lying face down on the floor, you can then repeat the exercise.  In that position you should be able to feel the lower abs working.  If you can feel them tightening up, then you are doing the exercises in the right way.

How Ab Workouts For Women Work

In every magazine that I look through, I see women who look very lean and don’t have any fat.  I use to believe that this was a natural thing, until I realised that most women have to work hard at getting their ‘perfect shape’.  They are very particular about their diet and they exercise very hard.  I used to carry quite a bit of excess weight, but that was until I decided that I wanted to change the way I looked and felt about myself.

That’s when I looked into the different types of workouts and exercise routines.  I eventually decided on a routine that actually worked well for me – the ab workout for women.  By working both my upper and lower abs, I have actually developed my abdominals and I now have a flat stomach, something that I used to dream about.  Most importantly though, I started not only looking good but feeling great about myself as well.

Since I’ve been working out, I don’t suffer from any back pains and my posture has definitely improved.  Initially, I was strict with my diet but not any more.  I am careful about what I eat but because I do my abs exercises everyday, this helps me and I have not regained the weight I have lost.

If you want to develop your abs, then it is important that you really work your abdominal muscles.  These are a group of six muscles which start at your ribs and go down to your pelvis.  I’m not saying the general exercising is not good for you, but if like me you would like a flat stomach, then these abs exercises are the way to go.

You may also want to work your internal Oblique muscles, which are your abs muscles on either side of the trunk. These not only aid your movement and support, but are also used to rotate the spine and the lateral flexion of the spine – which will help with flexibility and enable you to bend, stretch, and move with ease, fluidity, and grace.

Choose The Right Ab Workout Routine

Whether you are into body-building or you simply want to look and feel good, you will want to know about which muscles you need to develop.  There are a great number of exercise routines that you can follow, but you have to choose an ab workout routine that is right for you.

If you are just starting out and trying to develop your abs, then you have probably done what most people have also done in the past.  The most common mistake people make is that they do not really intensify their workouts.

This is not always easy to do, but it does come with time and practise.

Most people believe that by following a general workout routine such as Aerobics, that they will be able to develop a six-pack, or have a perfect set of muscles. Unfortunately, this is not true!  Be warned, muscles do not develop overnight, it does take time, effort, and dedication over a period of time.

As with any exercises, your ultimate aim has to be to work the necessary muscles well, so that you feel that you have had a workout.  Initially you may not feel anything at all, but given time you will perfect your routine, and be able to feel and start seeing the benefits.

If you have not done any exercises for some time, it is important that you start off by doing some very simple exercises at your own pace, and not to work yourself too hard.  After a while you should consider moving up a level and concentrate on working the appropriate muscles.  For example, if you want to tighten those muscles around your midsection, try doing some crunches.  In this particular example, you are not going to benefit by doing press-ups.

Finally, as I have already mentioned, there are many exercise routines that you could adopt, depending on what you want to achieve. You have to know your body, and choose the right routine to get perfect abs.
